This was my first wedding as main photographer and I couldn’t have asked for a more beautiful, big-hearted and humorous couple. Sanya and Deepak, thank you for trusting in me to do what I love; I am truly grateful. All the very best in your life together, I am excited for the both of you.
P.S. The bhangra music, butter chicken and wedding cake were excellent too.
P.P.S. Alwyn: thank you for being there with me - I could not have done this nor have gotten this far without you.
Sanya is Christian and Deepak is Hindu, so we went to both temple and church to receive blessings for their marriage. Not only was it an honour for me to witness this, but I'm also reminded that it's such a privilege that we have the freedom to celebrate the union of two people from different faiths.
Jan & Az | Sandalford Winery, Perth
I met Jan in 2003 in high school in Perth. It's been over a decade since then, and I was delighted at the chance to photograph her wedding, which was also a reunion of sorts for our high school group. What makes old friends so special is that you've known each other for so long that there's no need to try, that you can just be you. This was what I aimed to capture at the wedding - everybody being themselves.
Thank you Jan and Az, I couldn't think of a more meaningful way to be there for your big day. My love to you both!
Jia | Hen Night
Jia and I go way back - we were Primary One classmates, then we found ourselves in boarding school in Perth and we both ended up going to uni in Sydney. I remember the days where we sat in Victoria Park stewing in our existential misery, but in spite of all that, it still wasn't so bad because we had each other. I've known this woman for 25 years (omfg!) and I can't think of a better gift than shooting her hen night, and it was a wonderful celebration of this kind, beautiful, sensitive soul that I have the privilege to call my friend.
